Car tires are pretty much essential in every car's mechanism, but few people seem to recognize that. Even those who do have a certain difficulty with replacing them , because they lack basic knowledge of what they should look out for when choosing and replacing car tires.

It's not that complicated either, you just have to check some basic procedures :

- First off, be sure to use 4 tires of the same kind, since then you'll be able to benefit from the type of tire you've chosen. It's a very big mistake to choose 2 of one type and 2 of another. Contrary to popular belief this will not only be useless, but also dangerous when you are on the road.

- Use tires with a higher speed rating or the same speed rating as your previous tires. This way you'll optimize the performance of your tires

- When choosing tires with a certain speed rating , be sure to check what the maximum speed rating for your car is, since if you don't do that there will be complications and you'll be compromising the safety and stability of your car. The maximum speed rating is usually denoted in the car's manual.

- Also, check the recommended size and load rating of the tires, again in the manual, to prevent further problems. Choosing a wrong size of tires can decrease traction and lower the performance of your car , and in some cases it can even be dangerous for your driving experience so be sure to check thoroughly.

- Learn how to maintain your tires, it's not only about switching tires and if you don't learn how to maintain your tires you'll have to switch them quite more often, which is economically not sound.

- Ask competent people. If you're in a car shop, try asking the people who work there. It's their job and they will most probably be qualified and helpful enough to explain the basics to you. Good customer service is helpful to them too, so don't worry to ask. There's no shame in asking.

Most of the raw numbers , like load and speed rating can be found in your car's manual. Don't worry if you've lost it since most manufacturers keep a copy of all their models' manuals on their website, so it will take not more than 10 minutes to find the information you're looking for. And most important of all - be a responsible driver, know at least as much as to keep your car safe.
